👩‍🍳 Directions

Step 1: Preheat

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans or line with parchment.

Step 2: Make the Cake Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Slowly mix in hot water (batter will be thin).

Stir in mini chocolate chips.

Step 3: Bake the Cakes

Divide batter evenly among the 3 pans.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Step 4: Make the Frosting

In a large bowl, beat butter until creamy. Add cocoa powder and mix well.

Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Beat until smooth and fluffy.

Step 5: Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with frosting. Repeat with the second and third layers.

Frost the top and sides of the cake evenly.

Step 6: Decorate and Serve

Sprinkle extra chocolate chips or chocolate shavings on top for a rich finish. Slice and enjoy a chocolate lover’s dream!
